Q: Would a 1996 Z28 camaro with a 350 engine that has 300h.p. beat a 2004 Honda s2000?

A: I agree with snoochies... The 93-97 Z28's are 14 second flat quartermile cars...the S2000's are mid 14 second cars...unless the driver of the camaro is retarded...he should win. Underrated or not...Willpower is no substitute for horsepower. Not to mention but for those of you who don't race...horsepower is not the only factor in a race...torque...weight...gear ratio...temperature outside...traction... Ps...a 96 Z28 has 285 horsepower not 300. (first year with dual cats to boost output by 10 horse over the 275 for the 93-95 years). And S2000's are not underated...look at the dyno charts. Oh yeah..and that "bulky" Muscle car you are refering to...almost matches the porsche boxter on the skid pad...do yourself a favor...go do some reading. HEY LOOK EVERYONE...SOMEONE GAVE ME A THUMBS DOWN FOR POINTING OUT FACTS!!! EITHER THAT OR SOMEONE IS GOING AROUND GIVING ME A THUMBS DOWN FOR PAYBACK ON REMARKS MADE CONCERNING OTHER QUESTIONS!!!!! HMMMMMMMMM

Q: my s2000 transmission..?
i have a 2004 honda s2000. it has 52000 miles on it. recently, my clutch is feeling weird. the kick point for the clutch use to be high, but now its lower to the ground and my gears are hard to put in. friend of mine said it might be the master and the slave cylinder... wondering how much it would cost to fix and/or if the cars ok... help.. =.,=

A: I have an AP1 (2002) S2000. I had a similar problem after 75k miles. Unless you are planning a major modification to the clutch (performance clutch, flywheel, & pressure plate), which is an expensive repair/mod, check your clutch fluid. If it's low, check for leaks from the slave cylinder. That's where my problem was. The cost for the part is about $40 from the dealer and about an 1 - 1.5 hrs to replace. This may save you $$$ from unnecessary costs. I eventually upgraded my AP1 tranny to an AP2 (2004) tranny for shorter gearing, the labor was $500- which would be the same if you're just replacing the clutch/PP because they would still have to take out the tranny to get to the parts . Hope that helps and drive safe!

Q: Buying a honda s2000?
I really want a honda s2000. I was looking at used ones, maybe from 2004, for about 20k. I have 3k saved so far. How much should I save before I have reasonable monthly payments?

A: Depends what you think "reasonable" means. http://bankrate.com/brm/auto-loan-calculator.asp Use that to figure out how much you can borrow (remember, the loan amount is the price of the car MINUS your down payment, whatever it is).

Q: Should I Buy A Honda S2000?
i'm not that great at driving a 5 speed just yet. i have only driven two cars with a 5 speed and for a limited time only. the problem i have is when i come to a stop..i usually choke the engine and it dies out on me..and i have to restart the car again. the other problem is when i'm driving, i don't know when and what gear i should really be on..and the car starts jerking like a biatch. i look foolish driving a stick shift in public..i am afraid i might cause an accident. yet, i still want to drive an S2000 because i like that car. should i get it? i want one with a rear glass window and the better suspension and LED lights..so i figure 2004-2006 only. used ones and salvage title ones are going for around $12-14k..which is kinda cheap for a car with 244hp. other concerns are that people love jacking S2000's for their seats. the seats go for about $600 dollars on the black market. i see thieves all the time trying to sell them on Craigslist. should I get an S2000? i'm also concerned about theives trying to steal the car because it has a push button start mechanism..if they get blank keys which is what theives are doing these days, they can get in the car, and work the steering column and push start the car with that button. that is just bad news. i have a rifle and a gun that i keep with me and i really would use it against someone who tries to take something from me..but i have to make sure i shoot them when nobody is around. lastly, people think it's a teenager's car. do you really think it's a teenager's car?? i'm no teenager but i'm not an old fogie either. is this a fun all around great car to drive in? is parking easy?

A: Learning stick is easy, and don't worry, its a 6 speed. For shifting always shift sequentially (like 3,2,3,4,5..etc. and keep the tach above 1000RPM. Don't downshift into 1 until you have more practice and give it a little gas as you let the clutch up. Even though the S2000 produces 244 HP out of a 2L engine, it does it at 9000RPM. So if your cruising around town and decide you want to punch it, you will have to do a double or triple downshift to get into a good power band (short stroke and big bore means high RPM power but no low-end torque). Also the engine screams at 3500RPM at 60MPH in top gear. Make sure you have a garage or a top end alarm/immobilizer and park it where it is visible. They are good performers and I'd buy one if I had the money and no kids:-P. Just be prepared to accept some inconveniences and annoyances with owning a limited production, high performance convertable.

Q: BMW dashboard modifications?
Hi i live in the UK & i have a BMW 320 convertible (E46 Model) 2001, I've seen the dashboard of the 2004 Honda s2000, the electronic digital display readout & i was wondering if i could take that out of the Honda and pop it into my BMW, does anyone know who i can get this work done by, I've asked a few local garages but they don't do it Cheers

A: personally i think no one would do it. it's not that easy to transfer something from one car to another, you know. these are different cars, let's keep in mind. they have different software, sometimes programmed only to run in that specific car. even if someone would do it, it would be really hard. i mean it's not like a walk in the park if you ask me.

Q: Buying Theft Salvaged vehicle.?
i found a killer deal on one of my dream cars. a honda s2000. 2004 with 37k miles on it. the catch is of course its been salvaged but the salvage is theft/recovery. this small dealership is selling it for about 16k when these cars retail at about 24k. should i go for this s2k? or look for an older model, with like 50k miles and a clean title? thank you

A: Let me guess it's from Prestige Motor Imports..... Personally, I would never buy a car with a salvaged title. Even if it's in mint condition, there's so much negative stigma attached to "salvaged"...... first the warranty is voided.... second banks don't give loans for it... third the insurance company refuses to insure it.... fourth when you try to resell no one wants it because of it. Too many risks... and the prices isn't even that good. If it were 50% of wholesale value then I'd consider it but at $16k, you can find S2000 with a clear title priced similarly.

Q: Does anyone have copies of the Auto Trader - covering Surrey, UK, for May, June, July 2004?
I am trying to trace the Ad for a 1999 Honda S2000, silver, offerred at £15,995, 48k miles, at that time. Most likely date is end June to early July. Auto Trader do not have a copy.

A: Try your local library archive section. If that fails try eBay.

Q: engine replacment question? please help.?
do you think is a good idea to replace my Honda CRV 2004 2.4 I-Vtech with 2007 Acura RDX 2.3L turbocharge Engine. I want to improve my performance and acceleration too or what about the Honda S2000 engine is that also a good idea but the S2000 engine as manual my CRV is automatic so please let me know thank you.

A: you should see if the 2.4 block from what you have is the same as the 2.3 block from the 2007 if its not it will require allot of fabrication and money. the s2000 motor is a different beast than every other honda motor in production for the most part and will most likely not work (its longitudinally mounted and rwd for starters). if i were you I would just have the motor you have now rebuilt for turbo and dont go cheap on the turbo and our car will be way faster than if you did a swap and will cost you less money in the long run. swaps always lead to problems Ive had a few and known many more with them as well and no matter who does it or how well its done theres always gonna be problems and now you have to buy the parts for 2 different cars when you do maintenance and it gets confusing. so just turbo what you got and youll be happy I promise. good luck.

Q: What is a good size motorcycle for me?
So my husband and I sold our Honda s2000 to our friend. For payment our friend gave us cash plus his 2004 bmw rockster. I'm only 5'3" and want a bike really bad. However I can not handle this bmw rockster. It's so heavy. I take my motorcycle safety class on the 15th of August and I'm wondering if anyone out there would know what's a good beginner bike for me. I really like the "crotch rocket" look but I can't find that in less than 500cc's. Any suggestions?

A: I would suggest a Kawasaki Ninja 250R. They are only $3000.00 brand new and a great crotch rocket for beginners. Here is a link to the bikes info/pictures www.kawasaki.com/Products/Detail.aspx?id=263

Q: Which car should I get?
I am looking at the honda s2000 and the subaru wrx sti. They are both in about the same price range. I will be getting a used one, probably one from around 2004.

A: I work at a Honda dealership but I have also worked at a Subaru dealership. Subarus have a lot more maintenance issues than a Honda. Honda is one of the best, if not the best, car ever. There are not a lot of Subaru technicians, most dealers have more than 1 franchise. Honda dealerships usually stand alone, with factory trained techs. The S2000 is an awesome car!!! Hope this helps you decide

Q: I'm getting a choice of cars here... but IDK which to buy!?
I've been working my butt off for the past 3years for my parents... and now they want to buy me a car... a $$$ car!!! I would love to own one of the cars listed down there... but I keep on questioning myself about them! 2004-08 Acura TSX (6 Speed Manual) Love it but way to hard to find a Stick Shift and on low Milage with a good price! 2008 Acura Tl Type S (6 Speed Manual) Maybe... It's not even I-Vtec and a DOCH engine! 2006 Acura RSX Type S (6 Speed Manual) Always dream of having one but the insurances cost to much... I rather buy a car that cost more and still pay the same insurances cost or less... 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 9 (5 or 6 Speed Manual) IDK about Mitsubishi.. most parts are made from American companies 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 (6 Speed Manual) IDK about Mitsubishi.. most parts are made from American companies 1995 Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 (5 Speed Manual) Maybe... gotta do more research! 2008 Honda S2000 (6 Speed Manual) IDK... haven't own a RWD car yet.... It might suck in the snow time! 2007 Infiniti G35 (6 Speed Manual) I love the exterior but the interior sucks! It's a car thats consider a luxary when the interior comfort and design so CHEAP! 2009 Infiniti G37 (6 Speed Manual) kind of NEW and no bugs to be found yet on the 6 speed modle... The Japanese say this car sucks! But why? 2007 Lexus IS300 (5 or 6 Speed Manual) Maybe not because most are over mileage... but I've always wanted one! 1993-1998 Toyota Supra (5 or 6 Speed Manual) Love to have one but I rather drive a Skyline or a NSX then a Supra... 2005 Lotus Exige (6 Speed Manual) I would love to own this, but it's so hard to find one used! * yeah... you could see that I'm not a fan of the American cars (the cars are trouble and the companies... are going to die soon)... and no, I don't want a German car (the engine burns up if you take far trips). p.s. I know the Lotus is a German/British car but it has a Toyota Engine!!! :)

A: 2007 Lexus IS, or the TSX The Infiniti, Supra, Lotus, EVO, and RSX type S are the most expensive cars to insure on the road. After a couple of years, it wont even be worth insuring anymore! the TSX is pretty new and good on miles, so it'll last you a while. Its fun to drive, stylish, and keeps resale value. Theres a ton of aftermarket parts for acuras, so your insurance will be decent, and you can find lots of parts and body kits for it, and it was a pretty popular car, so you can find a bunch of them used for a good price :) The TL is a third option too, if you like less sporty, and more luxurious. The IS is the same as the TSX basically. If they're both the same price, go for the one with the lower miles

Q: Mazda RX8 vs. Honda S2000?
I am contemplating getting a 2004 Mazda RX8 or a 2004 Honda S2000. Which one should I go with. Looking for performance. Thanks

A: It really depends what you want. The RX-8 is a 4 door, 4-seat sporty vehicle with excellent handling, great brakes, great transmission, and decent power. For the one who values handling and responsivness and the ability to carry 4 in a comfortable package, the RX-8 is a great buy. The downsides are relatively poor fuel economy and only average power. The S2000, being a 2-seat convertible, is a more visceral, more raw driving experience. Handling is arguably better than the RX-8 - stiffer and better for the track and therefore twitchier at the limit. In the hands of a skilled driver, the S2000 will be noticeably faster around a road course, advantaged by its superior power and stiffer suspension. It's quite loud and stiff (where the RX-8 trades some stiffness for a more compliant ride). So if you're looking for a great handling car as your daily driver, the RX-8 is a great buy (as is a used G35). For a fun weekend car or track car, the S2000 is hard to beat.
