Q: Do all 1995 Honda Prelude S have VTEC engines?
I think i may be getting this car for Christmas however my parents are trying to keep it a secret and wont tell me if it has a VTEC engine. Does anyone know if all the 1995 Honda Prelude S versions have VTECS? Thanks to anyone that can help. -Logan

A: No, the 1995 Honda Prelude S and Si do not have Vtec engines. The Honda Prelude with the Vtec is called Honda Prelude Vtec. The Prelude S has around 135HP The Prelude Si has 170HP The Prelude Vtec has 190HP.

Q: why does my 1995 honda prelude 2.2 idles high and low when start ups?
My 95 honda prelude 2.2L idles high and low when it's cold. after it warm's up rpm's drops to normal. can anyone give me a tip?

A: Preludes have a tendency to idle erractically. Your idle probably bounces from 800-1200 RPM or anything in that range back and forth right? There are a number of things that could possibly be wrong. You can have air bubbles in the coolant. Bleed the coolant. Leaving the radiator cap off, turn on your engine, and loosen the bleeder valve screw. To find this, follow the upper radiator hose to the water neck, there will be a mess of sensors hooked up right after this, the bleeder valve is the 12mm (I think) bolt with a hole in the middle of it. Keep this valve open until pure coolant is spilling out, no air at all, then tighten it down. Top off your coolant again, and run your car for a bit more w/ the valve tightened and the cap down. Repeat a few times until all of the air is out. It could also be your Idle air control valve. Cleaning out the IACV and reinstalling it does help some with the idle.It is connected to the front of the intake manifold and on top just above the fuel rail. You should try screwing in the screw on the fast idle valve... Flat Head, located on top of the Throttle Body. If that's screwed in all the way and your still having surging... you could either have a bad fast idle valve, still have a bad IAC (even though it's clean now, the motor can go bad due to the gunk build up inside causing it not to work properly over time), or even have a NICE vacuum leak. But I doubt you have vacuum leaks because the idle goes away when warm.

Q: what would be a smarter car to buy a 1995 honda prelude vtec or a 1998 prelude? i want to tune it the car.?
which car has more parts for you to choose from. which is faster and which would have a better outcome. what looks nice overall. i also want to turbo it so which is better.

A: if you are going to tune I'd go for the 95 vtec because its obd1, the 98 is obd2 which is a learniing ecu, meaning anything you do to tune it it will make corections its self returning it back to normal. they are about the same performance wise. but if you are going turbo, sleeves are a good idea for the 98, the 95 is a semi-closed deck so sleeves arent going to be necessary unless you are running a lot of boost. depends on what your budget looks like in the end

Q: 1995 honda prelude, drivers side window?
I have a 1995 honda prelude Si and the drivers side window will not go down. i treid a new master switch button but that was not the problem. Was there a commen defect with the drivers side window or an area to target that seems to break the easiest? i was just wondering where to start with trouble shooting the problem, the door swtich was the easiest thing to try first but that didnt fix it, what would be the next step?

A: sounds like the motor for the window is not working. buy a new one there like 20 to 30 bucks had that same problem with my 93 prelude and just changed the motor and worked like a charm.

Q: How do I change the low beam bulb on my 1995 Honda Prelude?

A: Well it depends on which side it is. On the right side you have to remove the battery to gain access to the light. On the other you just put your hand down behind the light, unplug it, twist and pull.

Q: Best engine for 1995 Honda prelude?
What is the Best engine for 1995 Honda prelude S? Where can I find it online, and in what cars? as much detail as possible.

A: Well you have a lovely H motor probably H23. I would recommend the hipper H22A4 that is USDM model for 98+Prelude 190HP or any JDM H22 motor is fine. Everything is a bolt on, some wiring might be required for Vtec. Stick with OBD1 since your car is that. Best place to get a motor online hmotorsonline.com I bought many motors from them. GL

Q: Do I have to use strictly premium gas in my 1995 honda prelude?

A: No, use regular, I seriously doubt your prelude has a high compression ratio. If you hear pinging then you need a higher octane, or a tune up.

Q: how do i wire my 2 way speakers and crossover with tweeters in a 1995 honda prelude?

A: just use the factory crossover that is what i did with my alpines in the doors. worked fine. and you would need to be a total nerd to know that i hadnt used the alpine crossover. simple. i just used all the original speaker cable.

Q: 1995 Honda Prelude Si WORTH REPAIRING?
Hi, I have a 1995 Honda Prelude Si. I recently got into an accident with damage to the passenger side. The passenger side door won't open. I want to fix it, however I don't know if it's worth it. I haven't gotten an estimate yet. I'm pretty sure it's going to be expensive. The Prelude has about 122,000 miles and was previously salvaged. I love my Prelude. It's either I get it fixed or I get a new car possibly a newer Prelude. Your responses are appreciated. http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r278/basic714/102.jpg

A: that doesnt look all that bad. and you keep a car cover on it so the rest of the body is probably in good condition. I would just get it repaired. and repainted to the color you want. Prelude is a nice car

Q: 1995 Honda Prelude squeaking question?
Hey Guys, I went to go look at a 1995 Honda Prelude SE that was for sale. When I test drove it everytime I turned the wheel it would make a squeaking sound. My friend who was in the car with me commented on how he thought it was the power steering box. We pulled the car over to pop the hood and see if we could hear where the squeak was coming from. I sat in the car and turned the wheel and he looked. Well he happened to look under the car and saw a puddle of some fluid so I backed the car up and it was a clear transluscent color. I assumed it was transmission fluid but my friend said that he thought transmission fluid was also used by the power steering so it didnt mean the tranny was leaking. Has anyone heard of this before? Any ideas as to what it is ? Of course I decided that it wouldn't be best to buy the car, yet, unless the owner fixed the problem but I would like to know if anyone can shed some light on this problem. Thanks! If what your saying is true would then how does the fluid come in to play? Oh and also it makes the sound regardless of driving or not in fact at higher speeds you would be hard pressed to hear it squeak.

A: SOunds like a wheel bearing. Lift the car and support it with jack stands then turn the wheels turn each wheel with your hands and listen for unusual sounds you can also start the car and put it in drive while lifted That way you can spot the noise if it is only makin it while driving In that case it would be a drive train noise can be a CV axle or the transsmission

the prelude has black window tint, 17" pacer rims, chrome tail lights, momo shift knob, and full alpine system, 115400 miles. runs great and is mechanically sound

A: I am thinking not so much. Low Retail Clean Retail ValueHigh Retail Base Price $3,575$4,650$5,525 Mileage - 115k $75 $75$75 TOTAL PRICE$3,650 $4,725*$5,600 That was just using a base one at NADA. Looks like Clean...which most vehicles will fall under is well under 4,000.

Q: do you think someone would buy my 1995 Honda prelude for $7000?
the car has some added extras like custom rims, black tint, new speakers, chrome tail lights, momo shift knob, and is mechanically sound.

A: No, drop it to 6000 or around that region.

Q: What engine is compatible with a 95 Honda Prelude Si.?
I have a 1995 Honda Prelude Si. The timing belt broke and in the process, bent a few valves on the engine. I need a new engine. Is there anything that would be compatible and save me some $$$. Thanks

A: The Si carries the H23A, which is quite decent. It would be easiest to replace the engine your car came with. The base motor for the 92-96 Ludes was the F22A, which only has SOHC instead of DOHC and considerably less power. Even though these engines are very similar, they may be sold with different transmissions that are not interchangeable, or the belt driven systems might be in different places, causing problems powering the A/C, alternator, power steering etc., and you'll need additional equipment like a new wiring harness for the motor. In summation, keep it simple, stock.

Q: 1995 Honda Prelude 2.2 DOHC non-VTECH?
Head gasket or more? There's white smoke after a few minutes that smells kinda funky. Eventually it overheats, but when I check radiator there's oil in it. I dont mean brown sludge either, but literally motor oil. Someone tell me what this could be caused by before I put any money into it.

A: save the $$$$$
