Q: I have a 2000 honda odyssey for the second time need to replace catalytic converter. engine runs fine - why?
A: Hi. Could be poor quality fuel. Did the O2 sensors get checked?
Q: what is better a 99 suburban with 118k miles or a 2000 honda odyssey with 170 k what has less problems?
honda odyssey or suburban
A: Close call.
Honda transmissions behind the v6 from 99-03 were trash. I know that goes for the Accord clones, which also probably does apply to the Odyssey You will probably want to google up a Honda forum to make sure, but I believe the Honda issued fix was a trans built after sometime in 2005.
The Sub will have the usual potential GM issues. ABS, trans, rear axle, CPI spider, fuel pressure regulator, alternator, fuel pump, intake mani gaskets...
Q: Can someone tell me exactly where the EGR valve is on a 2000 Honda Odyssey.?
A: Follow the upper coolant hose to the thermostat houseing
Standing on the drivers side to the left of the housing
its a round barrel shape thing with a sensor on top
Q: Can you take out the middle seats in the Honda Odyssey (2000)? If so how?
Im trying to make more room, and wondering if you could take out the middle seats by yourself and how?
A: here's the instructions from the 2000 owner's manual
To remove a seat:
Pull up the seat-back angle
adjustment lever, and fold the seatback
forward.
Unlock the seat from the floor by
pulling the lock release lever under
the seat cushion's front edge and
lifting the rear of the seat
Unhook the front of the seat from
the floor by pulling it back slightly,
then pivoting it upward.
Always remove an unlocked seat
from the vehicle before driving. A
seat that is not locked in place could
fly around and cause injury in a
sudden stop or crash.
To reinstall the seat, hook the front
of the seat to the floor, then push the
back into the locks. Make sure both
the front and the back of the seat are
securely latched before driving.
Q: I love my 2000 Honda Odyssey, but recently the "check engine" light has come on and won't go off. Why?
We've asked a couple of mechanics. Some say it's common and doesn't necessarily mean anything. Another says it could lead to serious problems. Another says he thinks there was a recall on this. Anyone know?
A: Hey, do what the person says about taking your car to auto zone for a engine check thing. I had the same problem with a 96' Toyota Camry., took it to the Toyota dealership, and was just about to put it on the rack for $85.00 test. The nice mechanic came & told me, ""hey this is redicilous, to charge you this when you can take it to Auto Zone for free.(this is good) Did what he said, & it was in the fuse box, they had gotten wet during a real heavy rain.(driving through deep run-off) and they were shortening out. I replaced all the fuses for a few bucks & the light went off & stayed off. My neighbor had the same problem, and she took her truck to a Mazda dealership, and they charged her $87.50 and come to find out her gas cap was on crooked, he took the cap off reapplyed it and the light went off. (she didn't do what I did) cost me about $10.00 her almost $100 after taxes. So I hope it works for you, ""Good Luck""

Q: How fix flat spare tire honda odyssey?
The spare on my 2000 Honda Odyssey van is flat. I have taken it to a couple of tire shops and they say they don't repair the hole in these tiny spares. Do you know how I could do it or find a replacement litte spare tire that fits in the tire space? Their suggestion is to find one in a junk yars, which may work but I am looking for other ideas?
A: The salvage yard is the best bet.Go to one where you can take parts off yourself and see if they have any Odessey's.Should be pretty cheap.
Q: 2000 honda odyssey windshield washer fluid spray doesn't work. container is full. frozen? help?
A: Could be a bad motor, but more likely the nipple is clogged. If there is fluid coming out of the "little hole" when you operate the washer control, but it is not spraying on the windsheild try taking a safety pin and cleaning it out. If there is no water coming out open the hood and look for the black hose connecting to the nipple disconnect the hose from the nipple and operate the washer again (get a buddy)and water should come out of the hose if it does get a new washer nipple. If water doesn't come out try disconnecting the hose closer to the resevoir/container. Operate the washer each time to find if the line is clogged somewhere. Last check the motor. Turn the car off and listen next to the reservoir while (buddy one)operates the washer 'with the key turned'. If you hear a whining sound the motor is getting electricity if not you need to check the wiring or get a new motor. Both of these are a bit more complex so get a manual ie: Chiltons. If your motor does sound like its working try siphoning out all the fluid and remove any debris that may be pluging the hole in the bottom/side.
Q: IAM TRY TO SELL MY 2000 HONDA ODYSSEY EX MIN VAN ?
HELLO EVERY ONE I HAVE HARD TIME TO SELL MY MIN VAN HOW CAN I SELL IT FOR AND WHAT IS GOOD WEBPAGE I CAN SELL IT AND HOW MUCH I COULD FOR IT IT GET 114000 MILAGE KBB VALUE IS $7200 AND $6200 BEST OFFER PLEASE HELP
A: I listed the "private party value" of your van below. This is the only value that I use for pricing autos. If your van is in excellent condition inside and out then you should be able to get close to the excellent condition value. It will have to be like new inside and out. If it isn't then you will have to settle for good condition value or fair value below.

I will admit that when automobiles get over 100,000 miles they are hard to sell at the actual appraised value. If you can, drop the price to just under the actual value of the van say $100 or $200 dollars and run your ad in your local newspapers classified ads and other advertising publications.
Look in your local grocery store or quick stop for small advertising publications that let you place free classified ads.
You can find some free online advertising at
http://how-to-sell-used-car.com/car-selling-websites.html.
Download a free "car buying checklist" at
http://how-to-sell-used-car.com/car-buying-checklist.html.
This will help you know how to present your van.
Using online advertising will also let you upload a picture of your van.
Good luck.
Q: Honda Odyssey side doors not working?
I have a 2000 Honda Odyssey and the side doors open automatically. They stopped working and I can't open them with the remote and they won't pull open either. What would be the cause of this? Thank you
A: there is a lot of diff things that could be wrong. the first thing to check is the junction switches in the door jambs. take a pencil eraser and clean the pins real good. (also make sure the switch on the dash is turned on) after that you need to take it to a honda dealer to check out. there is control units that go bad, sensors in the motor that go bad. it would be cheaper to take it to honda to find out then just throwing parts at it.
Q: honda odyssey transmission?
where is the Clutch Pressure Switch Circuit in a 2000 honda odyssey?
A: Shift quality complaints such as harsh or late upshifts and downshifts don t always mean you need to replace the A/T. They're often caused by the 2nd and 3rd clutch pressure switch circuits being open or shorted to ground.
To confirm the problem, connect the PGM Tester, and check if DTC P1738 (problem in 2nd clutch pressure switch) or DTC P1739 (problem in 3rd clutch pressure switch) is set. These two DTCs do not cause the D4 indicator to blink and do not cause the MIL to come on.
the circuits refer to the electrical circuits, not the hydraulic circuits
the second gear pressure switch is near the oil fill hole plug and is screwed into the case perpendicular to the direction of the fill plug.
The third gear clutch pressure switch is directly behind the dipstick for the transmission. if you are to look at the transmission case through the dipstick you would see the connector for the 3rd gear pressure switch
hope that helps
Q: how can you fix power windows on a honda odyssey
i have a 2000 model honda odyssey and the rear power window wont go up . the motor still works in the window as you can hear it all other windows still work does any one have any clue what the problem could be. Please dont tell me to take it to an auto electrician eventually i will do this but if it is minor i may save some cash(which with the price of fuel these days should be understandable)
A: The belt is off inside the panel, the motor is turning but it is not connected to the window right now. If you remove the interior panel it will probably be obvious how to put the belt back on (sort of like when a bicycle chain comes off) unless the belt is broken, if that is the case you can push the window up by hand and leave it up until you get around to replacing the belt.
If money is tight I know I can always live with the back window up!
Good Luck!
