Q: What is the correct way to replace a lug stud on a 1999 Honda Odyssey?
One of the studs broke while changing tire. I need to replace the stud but I'm having problems with the big nut holding the plate with the studs on it.
I started to hammer the old stud out and it is being stopped by a "lip". Is there an easier way than removing the knuckle?
A: You would need an impact wrench or giant breaker bar to remove the big nut. And the "plate" still wouldn't come off because the bearing is pressed in. I don't have the shop manual for your vehicle memorized. With many vehicles, you tap out the stud with a hammer. Somewhere the factory should have given you enough room to extract the old stud. If not, you need to take off the steering knuckle and press out the bearing. Line up the splines and the new stud taps in with a hammer. Pull it the rest of the way in with the lug nut. Be careful. If you do it wrong you could loose the wheel while driving down the road.
Q: how to recharge 1999 Honda Odyssey Air conditioner?
what type of refrigirant and help with where the nozzles are for recharging it?
A: Look in your manual that should tell you where to charge it and what type you need. Or just take it to any mechanic shop, they will recharge for you and yes u will have to pay for it. All newer cars take r-134a. all older cars like 92 and under are r-12.
Q: where do i put the transmission fluid in a 1999 honda odyssey?
A: Some cars may not have a dipstick on today's transmissions, but if you do, purchase a narrow necked transmission fill funnel at the auto store and insert in the dipstick tube to add fluid. Never add more than 1/2 a quart at one time because you'll usually end up overfilling it. Check your car's owner's manual for the dipstick location (red plastic handle usually) or the top of the transmission fill plug if no dipstick. Make sure to have transmission super hot at idle and in park when checking the fluid level.

Q: 1999 Honda Odyssey Timing Belt Replacement?
I've read that I'm supposed to change out my timing belt on my Honda every 60,000 miles, I now have 117,000 and think it's time to change it out. Can anyone help me with instructions on how to change out the belt or any suggestions. I've replaced timing belts on my old car, a Subaru.
A: yes, buy the service manual and READ. Every car is unique and the DOHC V-6 of your Ody is much different than your flat 4 in your 'Ru.
I do not recall the timing belt being as SHORT as 60k - a garage might have told you that. BUT, it would not be more than 105k! At 117k, you are on a thread DEPENDING on where you live. Timing belts in the mild weather, humid east coast seem to last very well - my AC belt and Alternator belt on my 95 Ody lasted 100k miles! The dry southwest WILL dry out the belts much sooner.
All this to say, get your belt done soon and you should probably do the cam seals, crank seal and waterpump while you are in there.

Q: 1999 Honda Odyssey weird temp readings!?
I have a problem with my Odyssey (1999 3.5 v tec) when ever you are driving and come to a stop the temperature rises almost to the H on the temp gauge. This happens almost every time you come to a stop... not so much at short stops unless you have been driving for maybe 15-20 minutes the temp will go down if you start moving or rev it a little.. I also think it is warming up faster than before. The temp rises and falls rapidly that why I was thinking maybe the sensor is going bad, but more likely it is a problem with the water pump or water pump clutch. Have any of you had a problem like this? and if i need to replace the water pump or clutch how much would i expect to pay for it?
A: Your problem is with an electric cooling fan that is not working. the cooling fan is only used to pull air over the radiator when the car is at at stop or driven under 30 mph where there is insufficient airflow over the front of the vehicle to remove the heat from the radiator.
try this to prove it is the radiator fan--turn your air conditioner ON. When the a/c is turned on you will automatically turn on the second condensor fan. That will pull enough air over the radiator to cool the engine down. I know its winter in the northern part of the world so turn your temp gauge to "hot" when you put the a/c on; the a/c will still work the fan with the temp turned to hot.
When you confirm it is the radiator fan you'll need to have it diagnosed. Its usually the fan motor that seizes but it could be a temperture switch that turns the fan on that is bad
If it is the fan motor you can expect it will cost about $300 to replace it.
hope that helps

No, it is not the fans i have looked buth electric fans are running both when it gets hot and with the a/c
and i thought that the water pump might have its own clutch but maybe not
A: "Check the Radiator Fins! at least 80% Need to be Straight for Maximum Air Flow!" Sounds like the Cooling System needs to be Flushed/Boiled Out. New Coolant Mixture Must be 50-50 Clean water & Anti-Freeze. Also Thermostat Could be starting to Go Bad, Replace It!
Q: CAN MY 1999 HONDA ODYSSEY PULL A 6X12 UHAUL TRAILER?
Im go to miami from new york
A: Why don't you call your local U-Haul and ask them? They have a "hook up validation" software that allows them to see if the combination will work.
45 Cal and jacob y: You do NOT need electric brakes to tow a 6x12 trailer and they only have a 4-flat wiring not the 6 or 7 way camper wiring necessary for a brake controller (you couldn't even use the controller if you had it or got it installed; if you like to waste money feel free to just donate it to me). They are dual axle. They also have disconnect surge brakes for emergencies only. Any hitch Class 3 and up is strong enough to hold a 6x12, the tongue weight also is NOT that much since it is dual axle. You both should refrain from answering questions that you know absolutely nothing about.
Q: honda odyssey 1999 obd 2 code 1457 What does it means? how to fix?
A: P1457 EVAP Emission Control System Leak Detected (Control Canister System)
Q: I have a Honda Odyssey 1999 with 80000.When I should replace the timing belt?Do I need to change water pump?
A: According to the service manuals the recommended service interval for the Timing Belt is 90,000 OR 7 years whichever occurs first. so in either case you should seriously consider it needed.
Since the Water pump is driven from the same belt, changing the Water pump is simply a way to avoid having to go through the process again should your water pump fail 2 months after the timing belt has been done.
The added expense of the pump should not add that much to the total bill as most of the charge is for labor not parts.
If your belt fails you will experience a much larger expense as you have a better than average chance your engine, (or parts of it anyway) will self destruct.
Try to stick with a Honda Dealer or at least a service facility that specializes in Honda's so you get properly trained people working on your van.
